Where we came from.

Raised in the purebred dog fancy, my mother and I started showing purebred dogs together in 2008. As her only daughter, she and I have always considered ourselves to be best friends. As a young girl, my mother taught me to ride horses and groom dogs. She showed me the value of hard work and perseverance. If you fall, you need to dust yourself off and get back in the saddle.

We have always been avid animal enthusiasts and enjoyed the challenge of training horses together for many years before deciding to pursue the dog fancy. Our focus shifted to dogs when we moved to a location with less space for paddocks.

We decided that small dogs would best suit our lifestyle and allow us the opportunity to travel with them.

Once we welcomed our first puppy to our home, we were hooked! Our decision to raise purebred dogs seemed like a natural progress of our enthusiasm, and stemmed from a desire to share our joy and overwhelming love of dogs with others.

My mother studied to become a professional all-breed dog groomer and we chose the Maltese breed as our first introduction to purebred dogs. I will always admire her ambition. The Maltese breed with their long drop coat is one of the most difficult dogs to groom and show.

We felt that showing dogs was vital to ensuring that we maintained the highest standards. Showing dogs is much more than simply a beauty contest. A dog is judged and ranked based on it’s conformation and temperament.

A well balanced dog is healthy, comfortable and confident as it is able to move and pursue it’s inherited purpose without physical or mental restrictions.

In our pursuit to acquire, show and eventually breed the best dogs, my mother and I travelled throughout North America and Europe. We eventually found what we had been looking for and in 2014 we successful campaigned the #1 Maltese Show Dog in Canada!

Our Maltese were honored with Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show, and Best Puppy in Show awards.

Today my mother continues the tradition and was awarded the #1 Maltese Show Dog in Canada for 2021 and remains #1 for 2022!

Where we are.

While showing Maltese, I felt the Terrier group pulling on my heart strings. I was attracted to West Highland White Terrier in particular when I noticed qualities which I felt mirrored many of my own, and I vowed to one day share my life with them.

The beauty of the purebred dog fancy is the ability to learn about many other breeds of dogs, some of which are less common than others. Additionally, after spending years in the fancy I had the pleasure of making friends and acquaintances with others of like-mind from around the globe.

After a few major life changing events including the completion of my Bachelor of Science of Nursing Degree and marrying the love of my life, it was finally time to share our lives with Westies!

And so it began. I conducted diligent research into the breed, and after connecting with friends in the purebred dog fancy I was able to selected a few very special Westies from Europe as the foundation of Bramyn West Highland White Terriers.

Our bloodline includes some of the most famous West Highland White Terriers in the world, and as such we are looking forward to sharing in this legacy.

We continue to show our dogs and carefully breed to ensure that we are enhancing the quality of our dogs.

Our Westies are raised in our home and are our constant companions.

As ethical registered breeders we are dedicated to promoting and protecting purebred dogs, while ensuring that we do not contribute to the rising population of dogs in shelters. We welcome our Westies back home to us if ever they find themselves in need, and assist in rehoming other dogs which find themselves in need as well.

Where we are going.

We are incredibly proud of our successes and look forward to an even brighter future!

Our goals are to assist in fostering a community which promotes the health and happiness of all dogs.

We understand that society is constantly evolving and many purebred dog breeds are no longer required to fulfil their original purpose. West Highland White Terriers have come a long way from ridding vermin from farms in Scotland, and we would like to see them continue to adapt to fulfil additional roles which are complimentary to their breed characteristics.

Westies are well known for their intelligence and courage. These are characteristics of some of the best therapy and service animals. We would like to challenge some of our Highlanders to earn their therapy dog certifications.

It is our goal to one day participate in and achieve obedience titles for our Highlanders as well. Westies have an overwhelming desire to please and their incredible intelligence makes training them an absolute pleasure!

Moreover, we feel an obligation to share the experience and knowledge which we have acquired over the years of West Highland White Terriers and all dogs. There is no value in having knowledge unless it is shared.
