What is a Champion?

Showing dogs is much more than simply a beauty contest. A dog is judged and ranked based on it’s conformation and temperament. Titles earned including Champion or Grand Champion are awarded through Canadian Kennel Club sanctioned events, where dogs compete and are evaluated against the standard of perfection set by the Club for each breed. To earn a title, a dog must compete with other dogs to and be determined by multiple qualified expert judges to be conformationally correct and true to breed standard.

Presenting and showing dogs is vital for ensuring that a responsible and reputable breeder maintains the highest standards of practice. A well balanced and conformationally correct dog is healthy, comfortable and confident!

By striving to achieve the highest standard possible, a dog is able to move and pursue it’s inherited purpose without physical or mental restrictions.
